Spanish-Japanese company Univergy International on Friday said it has won an engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contract for a 50-MW photovoltaic (PV) power plant in Vietnam.

Local developer Hoanh Son Group awarded the Owner Engineering contract to the European firm. Under its terms, Univergy’s Japanese arm (Univergy KK) will send its EPCM team to overlook the progress of the project, working together with subcontractors.

Univergy has more than 2.6 GW of renewable projects under its belt, the company noted. Ignacio Blanco, its executive president, said that Vietnam represents a strategic market for the company. The country has a goal to reach a 32% renewable energy share by 2030 and to decrease greenhouse gas emissions by 25% by then.
