Your new Company:
They are a major Australian energy company with a portfolio of generational assets, including Renewable Energy, progressing their transition to clean energy with a significant investment pipeline. They foresee significant renewable energy sources and firming required to cover existing energy requirements as traditional energy generation technologies come off-line. They have a business model and strategy to meet future energy requirements with renewables including a major contribution from offshore wind.
Your new role:
Reporting to the CFO, leading a small team of finance professionals you will provide timely financial advice supporting executive leadership with business decision making, business evaluation and strategic planning. You will be responsible for:
- Effectively communicating the performance of each area of the business including energy generation and energy markets.
- Overseeing the preparation and approval of financial reports and financial control deliverables as well as balance sheet and cash flow, ensuring all balances are properly reconciled and cash flow is understood.
- Working with the executive leadership team to develop budgets and strategic plans.
- Ensuring capital frameworks are understood and adhered to by reporting on all projects present and future.
- Providing business case support and critical review to all projects in line with capital policy.
- Ensuring capital costs have been capitalised in line with policy.
With 15+ years at a senior finance level with extensive experience in financial markets, project finance, capital management and financial management, you have dealt with the preparation of strategy and business planning across multiple business units. You have a background in financial instruments and derivative reporting and have prepared business cases, done economic analysis and supported executive decision making.
If you have worked in the Australian energy markets, wholesale gas, electricity or Renewable Energy this is highly desirable. Experience in mergers and acquisitions and/or the development of utility scale renewable and firming projects (solar, wind, batteries, thermal) is also desirable.
