Your new role
Play a key role in the Renewable Energy Development team driving growth and generating partnerships with corporations, providing them with avenues to purchase power from Renewable Energy sources, mainly Solar but also Onshore & Offshore Wind. Collaborate with project development teams to assess the feasibility of PPA opportunities and negotiate and execute power purchase agreements with offtake partners. You will be responsible for Strategy and relationship development.
In terms of location, the role will focus on business opportunities within the country of residence of the successful candidate and will assist the client to expand its business within that country/region in addition to Japan. Some travel will be required but it will not be regular.
Who you are
A minimum of 3 years relevant experience in Virtual/Physical (Offsite/Onsite) Corporate Power Purchase Agreements from a power producer or marketplace; decarbonization and sustainability experience from a major international energy user or off taker such as big technology companies.
More broadly if you have experience in the power sector, leading RE project development, finance, and M&A. Experience with the Japanese energy market, electricity pricing, and renewable energy policies and regulations, this is all beneficial. Having a previous history in roles requiring a lot of international communication e.g., trading consulting also highly beneficial. Business Development experience desirable but not mandatory.
Your situation
You will need to be based in East Asia, or any country in the area without a significant time difference to Japan. You will also need the right to work in these countries. Australian and New Zealand citizens will also be considered.
English language ability required at a business level and above, most business will be conducted in English although proficiency with the Japanese language will also be beneficial.
